Honda Sensing ™
Driver-assist technologies have become popular tech features in vehicles since debuting just a few years ago. The Honda brand created its own set of technologies that work with Honda models as an extra pair of eyes on the road, so drivers feel safe no matter what. Some of these technologies include Lane Departure Warning and Road Departure Mitigation which senses when the car is veering out of a lane or road. The driver is alerted with sounds, flashes, and even steering wheel vibrations to get them back on track.
There is also Forward Collision Warning and Collision Mitigation Braking System which detects potential threats in front of the vehicle by wave radar sensors. In some cases, the system can even apply the brakes on its own.
To really see how these amazing features work in person, you have to stop by Gates Honda. Our dealers can show you how the different technology works.

Not all drivers are gear heads who know the latest news in the automotive industry or can dissect and explain every car part. Our Honda dealers in Richmond, KY know that, which is why we are here to help our customers. We frequently get asked questions about anything and everything from oil changes, to fuel efficiency, to engine options, and more particularly, drivetrains.
There are four different drivetrain options: front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and four-wheel drive. A majority of Honda cars have a front-wheel drive system, like the 2017 Honda Civic. In a FWD system, power is sent to the two front wheels, which allows for decent traction and better fuel efficiency.
In the same sense, rear-wheel drive is when power is sent to the two rear wheels of a car, which is common in many performance cars, as well as in some SUVs and trucks.
All-wheel drive is another common drivetrain available in many Honda models, like the Honda CR-V. This drivetrain can split the power between all four wheels, rather than just two, and all wheels are constantly engaged all of the time, with wheel sets adaptive to weather or road conditions.
Four-wheel drive is a popular drivetrain for off-road enthusiasts, as it engages all of the power to four wheels when manually turned on, perfect for more rugged terrain that isn’t smooth gravel.
To really understand the difference in drivetrains, you have to drive these models for yourself to see which best fits your daily driving conditions. Here at Gates Honda, we will be happy to answer any questions you may have so you can purchase the car that’s fully equipped to handle your needs.
There’s a reason why the Honda CR-V is in its fifth generation: this classic Honda model was one of the first crossovers on the market, and still stands as one of the most popular crossovers to date. The 2017 Honda CR-V has some new features while still retaining elements that drivers have come to know and love.
The Honda brand first debuted the Honda CR-V (Comfortable Roundabout Vehicle) back in 1996 at the Chicago Auto Show. This first model was geared towards drivers who wanted a more compact version of an SUV with sedan-like handling. Drivers got that in the very first model which was four-wheel drive and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.
The second generation boasted more power, and its new engine was capable of producing 160 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque. The model was so popular that in 2002 and 2003, the Honda CR-V won Car and Driver Magazine’s “Best Small SUV.”
Third generation revamped the crossover once again, replacing the car’s side-opening rear door with a more conventional rear liftgate. The exterior features were smoothed out with a new front bumper, a newly-designed grille, and the mounted spare tire was removed from the back.
In 2011, the automaker debuted the sportier fourth generation of the CR-V, which was equipped with a continuously variable transmission that greatly improved the fuel economy, while its new suspension shock absorbers improved its performance on the road.
Flash forward to today, and the 2017 Honda CR-V is just as great as its predecessors, but with more features that reflect the state-of-the-art technology of today. This model comes with lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and collision mitigation braking. Not to mention the entertainment features like Android® Auto and Apple CarPlay®.
Here at Gates Honda, we love the Honda CR-V, and would love to show drivers what’s new in the 2017 model. Stop by our dealership for a test drive to see for yourself.

Check and Replace Your Cabin’s Air Filter
Making the switch from heat to A/C is the perfect time to check the quality of your cabin air filter. Heading into allergy season, it’s important to make sure your filter has a clean slate. Lexington-area drivers especially may want to check their air filter’s quality, because driving in a high traffic or urban area usually results in poor air quality through your filter. Have us switch out your old, dirty air filter for a new one.
Clean Out Interior and Exterior
Sleet, snow, and salt can wreak havoc on both the outside and inside of your Honda vehicle through the winter months. Now that the snow has melted, it’s finally time to wash and wax your car to make it look like brand new again. Make sure a high quality car wax is used to extend the life of your vehicle’s paint finish. The inside of your Honda vehicle probably needs some cleaning too, so don’t forget to ask us to vacuum and clean the floors from any winter weather buildup.
Give your car a much needed makeover for spring and schedule a service appointment at your Richmond Honda dealership today.
The latest model of the popular cult favorite, the Honda Odyssey, debuted at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit back in January. While the exterior is definitely recognizable as the classic Honda Odyssey that Richmond-area buyers have come to know and love, the 2017 model has special features that set it apart from previous Honda car models.
While still a minivan, the updated version of the Honda Odyssey is much more sleek and detailed in its exterior design. New LED headlights and taillights were added, in addition to an eye-catching grille, which resembles that of the Honda Pilot.
Inside the cabin, the automaker has added what it’s calling Magic Slide seats, which are located in the middle row and slide forwards, backwards, and sideways, allowing for easier access to the back row of seats.
A big upgrade is the technology: the 2017 Honda Odyssey comes with built-in Wi-Fi and 4G LTE service, touchscreen controls and a brand new CabinTalk system. The CabinTalk system allows the driver to keep tabs on the backseat passengers with rear cameras, as well as a microphone for the driver to talk with passengers via the rear-seat speakers or through individual headphones plugged into the backseat entertainment system.
An in-car app titled “How Much Farther” has also been added to allow passengers to see the estimated time of arrival to their destination.
Important safety features to note include forward collision warning, lane keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency breaking and a blind-spot monitor.
The release date for the 2018 Honda Odyssey is set for this spring, so head to your Gates Honda dealership once it debuts to check it out!
