The new CR-V boasts an attractive and updated exterior with a cleaner design. Design changes include a distinctive new grille and updated headlights and taillights. The new model is also bigger. It features a wider body and a 2.7-inch increase in overall length. Four trim levels are available: the EX, EX-L, Sport, and Sport Touring. Although details regarding the different trims have not been released yet, we know that the two Sport models will come with distinct exterior features, such as black wheels, rectangular exhaust outlets, and a unique grille and rear fascia.

Updated versions of the CR-V's current two engines are offered with the new model. The base turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine pairs with a continuously variable automatic transmission and delivers 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid powertrain, which comes standard on the Sport and Sport Touring trims, produces 204 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive optional, except for the Sport Touring trim, which comes standard with an all-wheel-drive system.

A wide range of performance enhancements are provided with the new Honda CR-V. An updated suspension and steering system make for a smoother, yet agile ride. Non-hybrid models come with three drive modes, Normal, Econ, and Snow mode, while the hybrid Sport models also offer a Sport mode. Hybrid models can now tow up to 1,000 pounds.

As is the case with other new-generation Honda models, the new CR-V features an attractive honeycomb mesh that runs across the dash. Because of the new CR-V's bigger size, the cabin provides increased passenger space. Rear passengers will appreciate the abundance of legroom. In addition, the rear seats can recline.

The cargo area has also increased. While hybrid models have a rear cargo area of 36 cubic feet, non-hybrid models have a floor that lowers to offer a larger 39 cubic feet of space. Folding the rear seats down opens up a maximum cargo area of 77 cubic feet, which is a good amount of space for this segment. The cabin also features many convenient storage compartments for smaller items, such as a large center storage bin.

The two non-hybrid models come standard with a 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and smartphone integration. With the two hybrid models, you receive a 9-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and wireless charging. The Sport Touring trim adds a premium 12-speaker Bose audio system.

Many advanced driver-assist systems are provided as standard gear with the CR-V. Apart from adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and forward-collision mitigation, standard features include low-speed brake control, blind-spot monitoring, and hill descent control. You also receive speed limit recognition, a rear seat reminder, and a driver drowsiness monitor.
